The Read / A focused business strategy review

Make your next move a considered one.

Resolve the commercial question behind your next move. The Read gives your leadership team a recommendation, a working position and a practical 90-day plan.

Typically two to three weeks for one agreed, focused question. Start here when the opportunity is clear but the next decision needs work.

Talk about The Read

What you receive

A written decision brief showing the question, evidence, choices, recommendation and assumptions. A working position and narrative. A 90-day action plan with responsibilities. We work through the recommendation with your leadership team so the reasoning can be challenged and used.

Useful when you’re

Choosing which growth opportunity to back

Clarifying the value of an offer or a group of businesses

Giving a leadership team a shared basis for its next decision

The decisions and the work

A direction you
can put to work.

01

A decision you can explain

The central commercial question, the choices available and our recommended direction. We show the evidence, the trade-offs and the assumptions still worth testing.

02

A position and a story

Who the business should serve, why it should be chosen and a working narrative that makes the direction clear. Something leadership can use in the next conversation.

03

A 90-day plan with owners

A short sequence of priorities, named responsibilities and measures of progress. Enough detail to start, with further work clearly distinguished from the decisions already made.

Illustrative scope

Which buyer should lead our next stage of growth?

Review a defined offer against the audiences under consideration, the available commercial evidence and the business’s ability to serve them. Recommend which audience to prioritise, explain the trade-offs and set out what the team should test or change over the next 90 days.

The example focuses on one growth decision. A wider market study, full rebrand or implementation program would need its own scope.

What we need from you

  • A leadership sponsor with authority to make the decision, and access to relevant people.
  • The current offer, customer and commercial material relevant to the agreed question.
  • Time to challenge the findings and agree priorities, owners and measures.

How we work together

Agree the question.
Build the direction.

01

Agree the question

We define the decision, the people involved and what useful evidence looks like. You know the scope, timing and outputs before the work begins.

02

Read the business

We review the agreed commercial material, offer, customer journey and market context. Conversations with relevant leaders, customers or partners help test what the business believes against what people experience.

03

Make the call

We work through the findings with your leadership team, challenge the options and recommend a direction. The final read records the reasoning and the actions needed to move it forward.

Two to three weeks is typical when the question and access are focused. Larger groups, deeper research or several markets need a different scope. We agree that upfront.

Useful
questions.

What do we receive from a business strategy review?

For The Read, the agreed outputs are a decision brief, a working position and narrative, and a practical 90-day plan. The brief records the recommendation, its reasoning and any assumptions that still need testing.

How much time does the leadership team need to contribute?

We agree that with the scope. The work needs access to a decision-maker, relevant evidence and the people closest to the question, plus time to review the recommendation. We make those commitments clear before starting.

Do we need a finished brief?

No. Start with what you want to achieve and the decision in front of you. The first conversation helps establish a useful question.

Does this include a brand or website build?

The Read establishes direction and priorities. Creative development, detailed implementation and additional research can be separately scoped where the evidence supports them.

Do we have to retain GRPL afterwards?

No. The outputs are yours to use with your team and partners. Further work is an option, agreed on its own merits.

The next decision

Bring the question.
Let’s get into it.

A conversation with Matt Gudge about the business, the decision and whether GRPL can help. A few lines are enough to begin.
